Understand the issues:

In order for you take action you may need to understand more about the issues and problems that workers are most concerned about. In our issues section we aim to explain a number of the key issues in the garment trade through a number of short briefings.

These briefings currently include:

  • trade unions and why they are important,
  • what a living wage means,
  • why homeworkers get the worst deal,
  • why companies need to change the way they do business,
  • what social audits are and why they don't work,
  • multistakeholder intitiatives, what are they and why companies should join them.

These are the main issues we are focusing on in the Clean Up Fashion campaign - but of course there are more. Information about all the issues we work on, along with more details about the above can be found on the main Labour behind the Label website at: www.labourbehindthelabel.org or on the Clean Clothes Campaign website at www.cleanclothes.org .  On these websites you can  also find more campaigns, articles and news briefs, urgent appeals, links to other groups and more suggestions for getting involved with the campaign.
