When told that it is checked that workers should get at least the minimum wage set by the government, which they all do, she said that if they think this wage is enough they should all try to live on this amount for a month and decide if it is OK.” |

| Andy McDee, that's very true, but do you have a more effictive idea than auditing, in that case? I know this space isn't a heavyweight debating chamber, I don't have 100% of the facts, and I definitely am not interested in participating in an argument, BUT I do think you're incorrect to just write the whole situation off as inherently rotten. I beleive we're on the right track. Change has to start somewhere, even if it's only a small one. It's hardly intelligent to simply say 'Well, we can't fix ALL the malpractices in Tescos...so we'd better just ignore it without even attempting to regulate one or two'. The fact Tescos is even letting checks within the workplace happen is a step in the right direction - it can get wind of the time and place, yes, and cover up its tracks to a degree, but consumers are getting ever more aware of the impact of their purchases. I think if we all help to put pressure on Tescos, eventually the company, 'smart' as it certainly is, will be forced to effect improvements. |

| Tesco is a smart company, they are not going to get caught out by leaving a smoking gun in terms of their auditing procedures... nonetheless, I have absolutely no faith in the auditing process. It is not hard to imagine that Tesco's will somehow inform the supplier as to when their factory will be audited so as any possible failings can be covered up in time for the inspection team (ie: send all the 8 year-old labourers home for the day). If you are naive or ignorant enough to believe otherwise then you (and the millions of other capitalist drones) should perhaps experiment with the concept of thinking for yourself. |

| Do you know what Sedex is? What do you think about it? I thought Tesco was a member? |
